American Amber update…..and movie swag!
The bubbling finally slowed way down on the American Amber and I was able to rack it to my clearing tank (ok, fine. It’s a carboy) on Tuesday night. The gravity had not moved off of 1.013 as I feared it might. It’s now sitting silently, clearing up and maturing into a fabulous example of the style. Probably a medal winner would be my guess. It has Special B in it for cryin’ out loud! How can it miss?
By the way, when brewing up a batch of beer, I highly recommend chowing down on Special B grain. It’s way better then black licorice.
I tried the ESB and the Pale Ale again tonight. I can’t help but think the ESB could use just a little more time. It tastes very good, but is still just a bit rough around the edges. It’s only been just under 6 weeks since brew day, and it started with an OG of just under 1.06. I don’t think another week would hurt anything. I was supposed to take some into work to share around for the weekend, but I think I may hold off until next week. It’s fine, but…you know.
The Pale Ale definitely needs a bit more time. It’s only been bottled for two weeks, and still tastes quite green. I’ll pull another out next week and try again. It’s definitely drinkable, but not finished yet.
Oh, and hey. I got movie swag today. Jack over at Stella Artois was kind enough to send over a promotional package for the release of their cinematic website.
