I have played with the Stella Artois cinematic website…
…and I find it very well done.
The site centers around a short film with some dude running out into the streets, putting himself in various “iffy” situations with a bottle in his pocket (or is he just happy to see me?). Along the way, the film stops in several places at which you can either click to enter the site, or to keep the film rolling. Despite selecting English as my language, the whole film is in French, but it really doesn’t matter. It is very easy to follow along, and I think I understood everything. I actually think it wouldn’t have been quite as good in English. It just has a French look to it. Know what I mean? Neither do I.
Clicking into the site brought me to various challenges and short films, mostly having some historical significance to Stella Artois. I haven’t had time to explore all the side streets, but I did manage to try my hand at a few.
At the first stop, I was tasked with overcoming some of the challenges of 1366 beliefs in order to bring a barrel of Stella Artois from raw materials to a voyage to overseas markets. I am happy to report several successes. I managed to gather the special water needed for the recipe, so that’s all fine. I was able, with a few mulligans, to keep evil spirits from destroying the fermenting beer, and with some difficulty I stopped the sun from setting in the ocean. However, all is not well with my batch of beer. Unfortunately I was unable to stop the hops (and the hops collector guy) from falling off the end of the earth. Also, the weather gods destroyed the barley crop. Those bastards!.
I also found pouring the perfect Stella Artois is not as easy as it looks. Geez, one little drop gets into the beer after shutting off the tap and you’d think I ran over a puppy! Whatever. They’ll get over it.
Tomorrow you get your shot at the site. Check it out, I think you’ll enjoy your stay. I’m no film critic, but to me it was quite visually appealing and interesting. Importantly, it is also a lot of fun. Make sure you have time to spend, though. This is one of those sites where an hour has passed before you realize it.
