Switching gears for summer
Summer is approaching and the weather is heating up. That means summer seasonal brews are starting to hit the shelves. I have reviewed quite a few ales over the past several weeks, and it is time to switch gears. I will be focusing on the seasonal summer brews for the next few months. I expect them to be heavily dominated by wheat beers (I know many wheats are technically ales, but I’m separating them from barley ales for review purposes) and lagers. I can only hope I have as much fun with them as I’ve been having with the ales. Now, if anybody would like to come by and offer some help with my inventory of excellent ales, I’m happy to accept.
This switch comes at a good time as I am starting to exhaust the supply of amber ales on my local grocery store shelves. It won’t be too long before I’m spending a little quality time with my local BevMo. It’s like adult beverage Christmas year ’round in that place. I should also be able to branch out a bit and try beers from other parts of the country (and the world) once I get there. So far and predictably, the beers I’ve reviewed are mostly from California brewers, with Alaska, Oregon and Colorado each represented by one brewer. I must say, from what I’ve tasted so far, California is chalk full of excellent craft beer brewers. Nice job, guys!
