Brew Review - Samuel Adams Boston Lager
Tonight I sat down for a beer with an old friend - Samuel Adams Boston Lager from The Boston Beer Company, Boston, MA:
Appearance: The beer pours a light golden amber with a nice thick white head that sticks around for a decent amount of time. I believe all Sam Adams brews I’ve tried have looked great in the glass. This one is no exception.
Smell: Sweet malts and floral hops galore. Nice nose on this one. It smells tasty.
Taste: Hey, it tastes tasty too! Sweet caramel is the overriding flavor for me, and there’s plenty of it. Also present are toasted grains and some tangy citrus. Maybe some honey is in there as well. This is all very nicely balanced with spicy hops that lingers just long enough. The beer finishes extremely smooth. Yum!
Mouth Feel: Light-medium bodied - very nice for the category. Carbonation is on the high end of the spectrum, but not too high. The beer holds its flavor well and it stays smooth start to finish.
Overall: Samuel Adams Boston Lager is easy to take for granted. It is literally everywhere, and is a very common selection for me. I had forgotten how much I truly like the flavor until this review. It has a ton of flavor and is smooth from start to finish. I think a wide variety of beer drinkers’ tastes would be satisfied by this brew. This one is a can’t miss.
Enjoy your beer,
