Brew Review - Longboard Island Lager
I present for your consideration Longboard Island Lager from Kona Brewing Co., Kona, Hawaii:
Appearance:The beer pours a crystal clear yellowish gold with a thin white head. It looks like a lager.
Smell: Lots of sweet malt in this puppy. Also a bit of floral, peppery hops, but mostly malt.
Taste: I was met right away with strong chocolate malt up front - sweet and delicious. It also packs in some burned toast and spicy hops to finish. It is very well balanced and a very interesting combination of flavors. The flavor is different than I’ve tasted before. I like it. It tastes a bit like a camp fire smells. Hu?
Mouth Feel: This beer has a pretty firm body for a lager. It is almost creamy or chewey. Carbonation is perfect and bites a bit as the beer sits on my tongue.
Overall: The Longboard Island Lager is a very enjoyable, unique, drinkable beer. This is one lager with plenty of flavor and is smooth and well balanced. A keeper for sure. Now, where’s that travel agent?
Enjoy your beer,
