Brew Review - Anchor Summer Beer

Tonight I deliver another seasonal summer brew - Anchor Summer Beer from Anchor Brewing Co.:

This is a wheat beer from Anchor. According to the label on the bottle, this is the “first American wheat beer in modern times”. Well, if that’s true, they’ve certainly started something, haven’t they. How did it do?

Appearance: The beer pours a very clear gold color. A thick creamy white head builds quickly and hangs out for quite a while. This is a crystal clear filtered wheat beer.

Smell: This beer smells very nice and light. I get some sweet malty scents along with some fruit and floral notes.

Taste: Very light flavor as expected. It is mostly bready with some peach and sweet grapefruit flavors followed by just a hint of finishing hops.

Mouth Feel: The beer is light and slick. Carbonation is on the high side and seems to contribute to the slipperiness.

Overall: Light, crisp and refreshing. This beer would be an excellent choice on a hot day out in the sun, or if you just want something that’s not too heavy. Solid drinking wheat.

Enjoy your beer,
