Brew Review - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

For my second review, I present another beer I’m very familiar with - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Since graduating from mass produced beers many years ago, I’ve probably enjoyed as much of this brew as any. It is one of my frequent choices when I pass by the beer isle at the grocery store.

Appearance: This beer has a classic look with a decent head of around an inch and a light amber color. bubbles are ever present. The beer was very slightly cloudy, but that could be the result of a bit of the yeast from the bottom of the bottle finding its way into my glass.

Smell: Fruity (peach I think) and floral scents dominate. The malt scents are there, but are understated. Not terribly unusual for a pale ale in my opinion.

Taste: The beer starts off with the malty flavors - a bit of a bready flavor, a bit of caramel. Neither of which is overpowering. It finishes with a balancing hops bitterness late. The flavors are stronger than the light smell would suggest. The beer is perfectly balanced in my opinion, with strong, yet not overpowering flavors.

Palate : The beer sits well on my tongue. The carbonation is perfect. It has a medium/light body.

Overall: As I stated, this is one of my regular every day brews. It is entirely drinkable with nice complex flavors and a pleasing, light aroma. This beer will please the masses - veterans of the craft beers will appreciate the flavoring, but it should be an enjoyable brew for the more recent aluminum can convert.
