Pale Ale - First tasting
I couldn’t take the suspense. I had to crack open a pale ale and see how it was coming along. It looks like a success! I’m not looking for a new favorite brew or anything, as the ingredients seemed to me a bit on the light side. I just want no off flavors. The way this beer tasted tonight, I think this mission is accomplished. It seems I kept the ickies away.
As for the beer, I only bottled it up late Friday night, or less than five days ago. I popped the cap to a nice little hiss and poured slowly in order to leave the yeast sediment behind. A nifty little white head built up a bit, but not too much. The smell was pure light fruit and the taste was very light - a bit watery - with a small hop presence. This will improve over time, but I doubt it will be anything I’d brew again. It should be a very drinkable beer, but not a conversation piece.
