I’m outta here!
I’m off in the morning for a week of sun and fun in San Diego.
Next post will be next weekend sometime after I return. I’ve got a bunch of ingredients waiting for my return. If all goes according to plan, Sunday, August 5th will be the day I brew my first all-grain beer. I can hardly wait. It’s a slightly modified ESB recipe I found. I gave the equipment a test run today. I got six gallons of water up to a rolling boil in 20 minutes, and then cooled it down to pitching temperature in about 20 more minutes. With a one-hour mash, I figure I should be in the bucket about four hours after I start weighing grain. Add three hours to that for the fact it’ll be me, and I’m in for a long day.
I popped another of the pale ales tonight. they’ve been in the bottle for a week now. amazing the difference just two days makes. The flavors have started to blend together somewhat. I think it’ll be very drinkable, if a bit watery.
