Brew Review - Poleeko Gold Pale Ale

Tonight I bring you Poleeko Gold Pale Ale from Anderson Valley Brewing:

Anderson Valley’s Boont Amber Ale is still one of my very favorite beers. It’s just solid, and from everything I read about that particular brewery, there is lots of gold to be mined yet. I’m really hoping this is a bit of it. How did the Poleeko Gold do?

The beer pours a light amber/yellow color. Nice little white head atop, eh?

The nose is of light malt and citrus/floral hops. It smells like a winner.

Well, it tastes just like it smells. It starts with a perfect malt backbone of sweet caramel and maybe a little bread or biscuity flavor. The hops are NW, probably Cascade, and give the tell-tale citrus grapefruit flavor and a bit of tartness. The balance is about as perfect as it gets. I could settle in for a long night of drinking these things.

The mouthfeel is almost creamy with a pretty hefty carbonation. It’s what you’d expect from a good pale ale.

Overall, don’t expect to be blown away with the unexpected here. Instead, expect the expected and enjoy a quality product. They assembled a very fine pale ale with this one. Another winner from Anderson Valley.
